Holiday Cheer

This year we stayed home for the Thanksgiving holiday. We were not sure what treatment would be underway for Dave, so we thought it be best to stick around. It was a very relaxing and fun weekend with old friends. We are gearing up for Christmas in the Midwest. We can't wait to see all of our immediate family members. We are hoping for a white Christmas, since we haven't seen one in a while.
Thanksgiving weekend was spent with the Orzewalla clan from Arizona. They are good friends of ours that moved a little less than two years ago to Tucson, AZ. They rolled in Wednesday night and this kids picked up where they left off. While they were here we had a feast on Thanksgiving with the Childs family, saw the space shuttle Endeavor, went to Korean BBQ, and rode a lot of bikes. It was nice to catch up and do some fun things together! Side note, don't go see the Endeavor on a USC game day it's craziness!
While they were here Dave and I bought our first car together. Matt and Kristy took the kids to a friends house one morning and we went car shopping. We found a new used van at the Honda dealership in Pasadena. Our other van was great, but was having some issues smelling like gas and oil. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with it. So there you have it...we bought a Honda Odyssey 2010 with 33,000 miles on it. Should last us a long time.
I have been trying to take photos of the two kids together for a long time and have been unsuccessful. I finally got the two of them to sit down together for one photo(see below). It's not portrait quality but these two can't make a photo look bad right:) We are getting ready for family picture this saturday, which I pray goes well. As of right now the outlook is not great. It is supposed to rain, Tyler has pink eye, Angela has a runny nose, and I have not been feeling great either. I just hope we can get one photo of the four of us where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling! I know, it's a lot to ask, but that is the hope of this clickin momma(aka:mom who takes photos)!

Super Hero 4th Birthday

This last year Tyler has been excited about super heroes, Spiderman, Batman, Hulk, Captain America, and Superman. For his Birthday he wanted to be the Hulk. Honestly, I have no idea how he even knows who that is. The only Super hero who has been introduced to him is Spiderman by Grandpa Knight, but he seems to know most of them by name now.
For his preschool class he got to take a napkin and a cookie. He chose Batman cookies and Dark Knight batman napkins. We didn't want to do a big party this year with everything that has been going on, so we did a play date in the afternoon on a weekday. I asked Ty which of his friends are his best friends, he said, "All my friends are my best friends mom!" He is so sweet. That made it hard to narrow down to a small little get together for his birthday, but we did it and had a great time with Jace, Nolan, Candace, Katelynn and Ryan. We made superhero capes with their initial on it. The kids ran around and jumped in the jumper pretending to be super heros.
Happy Birthday to our Little Super Four Year Old! It has gone by so fast. His birth seems like a little bit of a blur now. He is a little boy that we are so proud of. We had an observation/conference at his preschool this week and were happy to hear what the teacher had to say. "He is inquisitive, social, and has exceptional critical thinking skills....Tyler loves his classmates...he understands expectation of behavior and is a good role model." Very proud moment for me:) We as parents don't get affirmation very often, but when someone says something nice like that it feels like a huge pat on the back.  This week went a toured a Kindergarten for him which he will start in September 2014. We have lots of decisions to make before then, so we wanted to get an early start. Before we know it he will be starting elementary school.

Our only Halloween family photo. Iron Man, Mr. Stark and Pepper Potts from the Movie Iron Man.  Ang was a little pumpkin princess.

Preschool Photos

Tyler's Preschool Class. He is the oldest in the class. He has made some really good friends already.

Terrific Tuesday

Angela is wearing the dress her Great Grandma Jackson made for mommy when she was little.

Tuesday's have become a big day in the Knight family. This one tops them all. Not only is this General election day for the country but it is also the day that voters decide whether or not to retain Grandpa as Circuit Judge. We are waiting by the phone to here the news and we just heard he has the victory! Angela and I both wore our Retain Knight Circuit Judge shirts today in support of Grandpa. We got lots of questions from people about them. That was fun. It took the focus off the heated battle between the two other more famous candidates running for election.
It is also Terrific Tuesday because we got news that Dave's platelet levels are at 94,000. The hematologist actually said he was glad we decided not to go through with the chemo treatment like he originally planned. Dave said he was thankful I talked him out of it and decided to wait a week. He is going to decrease the dose of prednisone again.
We also spent a terrific weekend with Grandma. We were sad to say good-bye but thankful for the great time we had. Thanks for all your help mom! I appreciate you helping me get back on my feet, for helping me get my mind off things and for the fun times we had shopping! It was like old times! Tyler and Angela miss there "Yaya"!

Sleepover in Tyler's room with Grandma Olson or as Angela calls her...Yaya!

Angela's duck buddies on the back porch. She is an animal lover!

Happy Birthday Grandma at Santorini in Old Town Pasadena!

Grandma visits...this is one of the items on the list of things Ty had for Grandma to do while she was here.

Ty's first time surfing

Another day at the beach...November in So. Cal is rough! We stopped here after dropping Grandma off at the airport in hopes of seeing her plane!
