Summer School is cool

We decide to forgo traditional summer school and do some fun activities at home.

Angela and Kera playing sprockets

Waiting for daddy to come home from work

Angela learning to do the swing

Pirate activities...hunting for treasure by melting ice (science), sword fighting (Gross motor), sorting shells (Math), etc.

Making treasure maps and following them, eating Pirate puffs, and more treasure hunting (counting).

Water unit...using fine motor skills to glue Cherrios to the letter "W" and the word "Water". We then did lots of water experiments to learn new vocabulary, like separate, dissolve, mix, predict, etc.

Family Camp: Big Bear

This weekend we went to Big Bear with San Marino Community Church for their family camp. Tyler goes to preschool at the church there, so we decided to check it out. It was at the Salvation Army camp near Big Bear Lake. We stayed in a cabin that was more like a hotel for two nights. The kids enjoyed the great outdoors, swimming, ziplining, a campfire, kids camp, and playing freely with lots of kids.

Ty did his first Zipline

Hail Hail to Michigan!

A few weeks ago I took the kids to Michigan to visit family and to let Daddy work hard and play hard. We also went to see our good friend, Elizabeth Waters, graduate from our alma mater, Spring Arbor University.
It was an uplifting trip to see everyone. It was food for my soul! The kids traveled well and enjoyed every minute! Tyler continues to talk about the diggers on the way to visit grandma's school. Angela continues to talk about going in the hot tub with Grandma and Grandpa. I will never forget seeing Great Grandpa Jackson trying to stand on the back of a moving golf cart and watch his life flash before my eyes as I grab him and pull him back down in his seat. I got to spend my birthday with my sister for the first time in over 6 years and Mother's day with my own mom for the first time in years also. That was special. Looking forward to going back in a few weeks!
Great Grandpa and Grandma Jackson! They have been married 67 years!

Cousin time

Bathtime...I mean hottub time. They went in the hot tub every night.

Celebrating Elizabeth's graduation from Spring Arbor University with her masters in Spiritual Formation

Mr. Spring Arbor aka: Grandpa Jackson

Ty is studying pond life at preschool. Here he got to experience it first hand. Cattails and lily pads!

Grandpa and Grandma Olson back by the river in their backyard looking for frogs, turtles and fish.

The new ducks next door.

Visiting Grandpa's office. We went out and saw the hammers pounding steel parts into forgings that Grandpa sells. They put them in trains and busses.

My favorite cake...Meijer's white on white Buttercream frosting! Something nostalgic about eating the food you grew up eating!

Ty and Dee at the Cascades park, where we planted a tree when we were their age.

The plan ride home to see daddy!
