On the Mend

Poor T-bear! He got really sick Sunday night. Doctors say it was a virus, which is very vague. He was throwing up for over 12 hours straight, so I took him to Urgent care and they put him on an IV to get some fluid in him. They also gave him Zofran to help with the nausea. We left there in better spirits and with some spiderman stickers:) I have heard of at least two other kids his age that have had this same thing in the last two weeks. I guess it is going around...Beware! I hope you and your kids do not get it! He laid around for at least 4 days straight.
Thankfully Grandma Knight had flown in the day before and stayed with Angela while I took Ty to the doctor. Daddy had a conference in Vegas, so it was really nice having someone else here to help. Thank you Carol for all you did for us! For getting up with Ty in the night, for watching the kids so I could run errands, and for being there for us while Dave was away at his conference.

Here are a few photos from the Urgent care. We had to stay a while so he could gets fluids and they could monitor him. He is doing much better today! Thanks for all your prayers for him and for us!

Projects

So, over the past few weeks I have been engaged in some fun projects.  Here are the results. Wish I would have taken more before pictures.

Project #1 Distressed End Table

Process: Find a piece of beat up furniture at a thrift store, take off handles, sand, purchase paint/primer mix in the discount section at Home depot, paint twice and let dry and then sand again with 100 grade sand paper in a few different spots. VWala....distressed furniture!

Project #2 Make Korean BanChan (aka: Side dishes at Korean BBQ) for the Birthday party

1st dish: Japchae (Vermicelli noodles)
Recipe found here.
2nd Dish: Potato Salad
Recipe found here. (Just added pickle juice and salt to the recipe...it was a little bland)

Lots of chopping to do...carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms, onions, green onions.

Cooking the noodles and sautéing the meat, onion and noodles.

Project #3 Patio Set

I found this cool new store. Outlet E.L.S. They sell over stock everything:) I found a patio set there for 50% what I would have paid in a store. Only downside...I had to put it together, but it was fun.

(Found an umbrella this week to go with it)

Project #4 Backyard Garden
Process: We had some bare spots in the flower bed, so we went to Osh and picked up some soil, chicken manure and veggie plants. They have already tripled in size. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zuchinni, and strawberries growing. If we can only keep the bugs away:)

Easter Festivities

Spring is in the air and we have gotten to spend lots of time outside. Tyler has been riding his bike a lot and Angela is toddling around. We got to spend Easter with Grandma and Grandpa Olson. Tyler made a list for Grandma and Grandpa to complete while they were here and they checked everything off. It included skateboarding, playing soccer, bike ride, starbucks, a movie night, pizza, train ride and more.
It was eventful trying to fulfill the list. Mommy managed to get a speeding ticket while driving the rental car with everyone in it to the trains at Griffith park. That was a nice hefty fine! Needless to say, it is over an no more tears will be shed for that.
We planted a garden in the back.

For Easter Service, Tyler brought his guitar and asked if he could play with the worship team and they let him.

Angela Turns ONE!

She's not a baby anymore by definition, but she will always be our baby girl! Angela celebrated her first birthday a little early on April 7th with her friend Alethea Waters who turned one a few weeks before her. We had a small birthday party for the two of them with some family, a few friends, Korean BBQ and cupcakes. It was our first party in our new backyard. Some of her little friends came...Ada Linscott, Emily Childs, Lenko, Katelynn, Timmy and Kylie Way, Peyton Tully.
It was special that Grandma and Grandpa Olson were able to be here for the festivities. They spent a lot of time with the kids while mommy made preparations for the party.
This milestone marks that end of the infant stage in the Knight household. We look back with smiles on our face over the last few years we have had with our babies. It is sad to think about not hauling infant car seats, burp clothes, large diaper bags, and bottles around. It is funny to look back at how different our two children are and how unique their entrance was into the world. We have enjoyed this phase of attachment and will always remember the special bonds we formed with each of them. Dave and I were reminiscing the other night of our fast and furious birth night with Angela and the character building experience we had with Tyler's birth. We look at the blessing she and Tyler have both been on our lives and we have so much joy because of them.
Thanks you Angela for bringing us so much joy this last year. We are so grateful for our little girl!

 She is walking!!!

Party time...this is right before the guests arrived.

Alethea Waters kept wanting to grab Angela's face in the pictures:) Angela took it like a champ:)
