Afternoon at the park

Tyler went down the slide by himself yesterday. It was so cute. He wanted to push himself down without help, so I let him do it over and over again. As you can see here...he loved it! He also enjoyed playing in the sand and playing with a little girl he met at the park. She gave him his first kiss:) It was really sweet. He recognized that she was his age and he started to follow her around.

Random Pictures

Ty loves his books. I find him in his room sometimes, just sitting on the floor reading his books.

We took a visit to El Porto Beach on Sunday. Our babysitter and friend, Brooks, went with us to have some fun.

Tyler was very cuddly at the beach.

Dave loved showing Tyler the waves and the surfers. It was beautiful. The waves were really big...probably triple overhead.

About a month ago Tyler met my cousins Melody's daughter.

Dave's cousin Brandon came to visit from Missouri and meet Tyler. We had a nice time with him.

Wrappping Up 2009

A lot has happened in a few weeks. Tyler has a new cousin named Carter Anthony Speck. He was born on Dec. 28th to Dave's sister Christy and her husband Tony in Minnesota. Grandma and Grandpa Olson came to visit over Christmas. We went to the Rose Parade and had front row seats.

Tyler has been testing our every nerve the last few weeks with his new gift of screaming. Hopefully the neighbors don't think we are beating him, because he screams really loud, even in the middle of the night sometimes. I have been reading and some sources say it is developmental. Either way, it drives me crazy that I can not control it. He is still a great boy though. He is just learning about his voice I guess.
He also learned how to stand on his rocking chair today. I guess he is going to be adventurous and daring like his mom and dad. This is a picture I took quickly of him before removing him and telling him not to do it again. He proceeded to try over and over again. I put the chair up for now. Tyler has also been learning to communicate through sign language. So far he knows the signs for : please, moon, all done, bath, and milk. We are working on some other ones. He picks up on some of them better than others. He really understand when to use "please". There are some other pictures here to enjoy...Dave jumping over Tyler, Tyler pointing, Tyler with his new giraffe friend, Tyler opening presents, Tyler with Grandma Olson.

Our little Toddler

This week has been a tough one. Tyler was sick and got two teeth. Mommy was sick for a day and Tyler did not sleep well most of the week. He is still having a tough time. Despite these conditions, he is walking all over the house now without holding on to things. He is so proud of himself. He walks around with a big smile on his face most of the time.
He is waiting with anticipation to meet his first boy cousin that will be born in the next two weeks or so. His Aunt Christy and Uncle Tony are going to have a baby soon.
The week ended well when we celebrated Daddy's birthday yesterday with some of his close friends. We went to Korean BBQ in stylish 80's sweaters. Most of which were ugly. Many of them were purchased at the thrift store down the street. Godfather Paul won the Ugliest Sweater contest. It has fuzzies on it. Daddy had to wear a belt with his because it was an XXL. Mommy and Elizabeth crimped their hair and everyone else had fun participating.
After dinner we all went back to the house for some cappuccino, hot chocolate, tea and dessert. We played a "How well do you know Dave?" game and Stephanie won. Dave tried out the new espresso machine I got him for his birthday. Unfortunately, we have to send it back because it has a leak:( But, it worked for the party. Elizabeth played some 80's music which was a lot of fun.

Tyler's sweater was not ugly, but it was from the 80's. It was Dave's sweater when he was little. It has his initials on it.

Andrew did not time to get a sweater:(

My First Haircut

We went to Little Kutz in Pasadena yesterday for Tyler's first hair cut. He sat still the whole time while Karen cut his hair. She gave him a little certificate with a lock of his hair for his baby book. It was sad to cut off his little curlz in the back of his head, but we are really happy with how it turned out. He looks like a little toddler now, rather than a baby:) She even spiked it at the end. After the hair cut we went and picked out a Christmas tree.
